"Date Tasted: 2022-03-30. Drinking Window: 2022 - 2028. 100% Pinot Noir. Single vineyard in Écueil. Ungrafted vines grown on Thanet sand (Yes really. Come on all you folk of Kent, support the local soil type!), a calcareous glauconitic (green) sand, mass-selection Pinot Noir planted on its own roots in 1973. Spontaneous fermentation, no malo, no fining or filtration. Aged for 9 months on the lees before bottling. Disgorged September 2021. Zero dosage.
Real tension here. With some wild floral richness à la biodynamie! A wine with a great story. But it’s a wine more than a champagne…"

"From an ungrafted Pinot Noir vineyard planted in 1973 (on sandy soils) and picked on September 25th at 11.2 potential alcohol, the 2012 Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru les Francs de Pied offers very clear, fresh, precise and delicate fruit on the nose. Fermented 100% in used oak barrels, this is a pure, highly finessed, very elegant and terribly salty Pinot Noir with a very long, complex yet pure, tensioned and very long finish. This is well structured and persistent."
