"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is earthy and darkly floral in the glass, wafting up with a whiff of flowery underbrush giving way to crushed rocks and black currants. This is elegant and weighty on the palate, with masses of ripe wild berry fruits underscored by saline-minerals, as a core of brisk acidity adds inner harmony. Blue- and purple-toned florals linger on and on, as hints of licorice fade, all engulfed by a silty staining of tannins. The 2018 from Le Gode possesses unexpected depth for the vintage, along with a balanced structure. Drinking window: 2024-2031."
