Type: White
Vintage: 2023
Grape variety: 100% Nascetta
Country: Italy
Appellation: Langhe Nascetta DOC
Known for their Nebbiolos, this Nascetta sometimes gets overlooked, but it is a stunning white wine you should certainly try. It is a selection from two estate vineyards in Monforte d’Alba: Ferrione (on a hillside facing west/southwest) and Ginestra (facing east). Altitude ranges from 440m to 460m, on a mix of clay and limestone marl. Nascetta is rare, however it is believed to be the Langhe’s true indigenous white grape. The juice spends a day on the skins and is then fermented on indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled tanks. Malolactic conversion is blocked, before ageing for six months in tank. Aromas of citrus and pineapple and distinct herbal notes of sage and rosemary. Medium-bodied, fresh, and lively. Pairs well with fresh sheep’s cheeses and most appetizers, or can be enjoyed as an aperitif.
"Bottled in in March 2024, the 2023 Langhe Nascetta saw a period of 24 hours of skin contact at the start of fermentation and was raised in stainless steel tanks. It pours a bright yellow straw color and is highly expressive, with notes of wet stones, peppery spice, melon rind, lime blossoms, and white pineapple. Medium-bodied, it's spritely and inviting, with a fresh, waxy texture and a rounded feel, fresh acidity, and crisp lift. Drink over the next 6-8 years."
