Celler 9+ was created in 2010 in La Nou de Gaià in the Tarragona region, influenced by the Mediterranean Sea.
All farming (35 hectares, of which 17 are vineyards) is done organically. Founder and winemaker Moisès Virgili i Rovira believes making organic, sulfite-free wines is more than a whim or an invention, to him it is a necessity. With pollutants present everywhere today, going back to the origins is part of the process of change for him: cultivating the land with respect, making wines by listening to them, opening our senses to those around us. Committed to leaving preservatives behind, he doesn’t use sulfur in most of the wines. Moisès works to make conscious wines to be able to enjoy with family, friends or by yourself, by striving for perfection in his field everyday.
By accepting the uncertainty of the natural process, he feels that his winemaking expresses life in all of its mystery and beauty, perfect just as it is. Born and raised in the region, he has worked the land since he was very young. His passion for agriculture led him to study Oenology and Agri-Food Engineering. After gaining experience in renowned wineries and various vintages around the world, he decided to open his own cellar. Thanks to the unconditional support from his family, the winery is growing and evolving while following a very clear philosophy: sustainability and respect for the environment.
