Vintage: NV
Grape: Chardonnay
Country: France
Appellation: Champagne
100% Chardonnay from Festigny and Le Breuil, grown on a mix of clay and limestone on south/south west facing aspects. The average vine age is 32 years.
Manually harvested and pressed in pneumatic presses of 2 000 and 4 000 kgs capacity. For the vinification, the plots are kept separated in stainless steel or enamel steel tanks. No malolactic fermentation, and aged one year in oak tuns before ageing in bottle for another 6 years. Disgorged following the lunar calendar.
Very clean and delicate nose, with subtle woody notes. Smooth palate with precision; fresh fruit and toasted almonds.
"The 2020 Brut Nature AON de Foudre Chardonnay is a wild wine. Powerful and explosive, the 2020 packs a tremendous punch of fruit and structure. There are some vegetal notes typical of the vintage that lurk beneath, but they are pretty buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. Readers should expect a decidedly eccentric wine. Bottled with no dosage. Disgorged: September 2024; multiple disgorgements throughout the year. Drinking window: 2025-2030."
