From vineyards around Moulin de Beaupréau at the northern edge of the appellation. This is a light sandy terroir of schist and phthanite. It is aged in a combination of vat (90%) and cask (10%) for 18 months. This vintage in particular offers a very elegant expression of this cuvée.
On the 2018 vintage:
'If you're looking for a bold Chenin, the 2018 Les Genêts is not it - and it's all the better for it. A rather quiet and tender wine with a subtle, refined nose of apples, Brazil nuts, almond macaroon and florals. While round, there's a sense of calm, purity and no heaviness. The gentle embrace of phenolics is so delicate that it leaves a gently satisfying texture throughout the mouth. There's a fine flush of acidity on the finish. Ends as it began, with calm and tranquility.''
