The I Vigneri Etna Rosso is made from the grapes that vineyard owners traditionally pass on to the workers – I Vigneri – to make wine for daily consumption, although this certainly is a few steps above that. In the capable hands of Salvo Foti, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes shine in this foot trodden wine. The grapes are macerated on the skins for eight days, before going through a spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. Afterwards, the wine aged for six months in amphorae, buried underground. Expect intense red fruits and hints of smoke and earthiness.
"The 2022 Rosso is a total pleasure with rosy florals, savory herbs and crushed raspberry fruit. This is juicy and fruit-focused with ripe wild berries and sweet spices under an air of inner violet florals. It finishes pleasantly chewy and long, with a licorice tinge, leaving the mouth watering for more."
