"The 2020 Barolo Ginestra is another terrific wine from Diego Conterno. Rich, ample and bombastic, the 2020 saturates the palate with a heady mix of blackberry, chocolate, spice, leather, licorice and incense. There’s a lot of fruit and overall intensity, yet the typically potent Ginestra tannins are nicely tamed. I would give this a few years in bottle to shed some of its baby fat. This is a seriously impressive wine."

"In this vintage, the Ginestra cru seems to have been one of the most consistent of Monforte and perhaps even the most exciting. Just mid ruby. Complex nose of perfumed red fruit with savoury, minerally notes. Pure raspberry fruit slowly unfurling on the palate and filled out with coating, long tannins. Long and layered and can be approached now. Drink 2024 – 2038."

"The 2020 Barolo Ginestra has a more high-toned and red-fruited profile compared to the 2021s and boasts notes of grenadine, candied flowers, cocoa, and fresh spices. The palate has a more medium-bodied feel but remains ripe with refined tannins and has a good deal of length and even acidity. It offers a more immediate feel now, though I imagine it will have quite a long life ahead as well. Drink 2025-2045."
