Blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvèdre. The Grenache vines ares located on a clay-limestone plot on a hillside above the village, facing south. The Syrahs are located at the foot of the village, facing south-east. Aged in concrete vats for 90% and 10% barrels and demi-muids, no fining, light filtration before bottling.
The structure of Grenache combined with Syrah provides remarkable balance. Syrah gives a touch of violet and spices, while Mourvèdre diffuses small notes of candied fruits and undergrowth and Carignan completes the structure for its deep colour and its readiness for aging.
Like all well-structured wines, Rasteau is a companion to meats in sauces, game and Provençal stews. Deep ruby colour with intense nose of dark fruit, spice, menthol (fresh herbs), and ripe blackberry. The palate is silky and smooth with elegant tannins, beautiful violet floral notes, liquorice and redcurrant.
