100% Merlot from hand-harvested vines. The grapes are totally destemmed, and undergo two months of maceration and fermentation in casks, without sulfur or temperature control. After a gentle pressing, the wine is aged for five years on its lees in large oak casks that have seen several wines. Bottled at the estate without fining or filtration, and without the addition of sulfites. Bottle-aged in the estate cellars for a almost ten more years before release. The is a fruity wines with notes of blueberry and blackberry combined with herbs and leather, and an elegant, refined palate.
"Dusty dried rose, brown spice, musky red currant, cinnamon and clove aromas make the 2009 Merlot impossible to ignore. This is lifted and finessed with cooling acidity. Masses of salty minerals saturate as wild blueberry notes mingle with hints of ginger. It finishes staining and long with a saline tinge, pleasantly bitter. Silty tannins tug at the cheeks without taking away from the 2009's energy. The Merlot refines for six years in old barriques and nine years in bottle before release. Fans of this dark and almost rustic style will love it. It’s a beast. Drinking window: 2025 - 2034."
