From the same vineyards, this Aglianico is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks before an aging process of 12 to 15 months in small oak barrels, another 12 to 15 months in large barrels, 6 to 8 months in stainless steel, then in bottle. Raspberry, cherries, blackberry, anise and tar form the nose, with a light touch of the oak. Velvety in texture with fine but persistent tannins, and a lenghty, fruity finish.
"The 2012 Taurasi Terzotratto opens with a flourish of dusty black fruits, woodland herbs and smoky crushed stone. This gains in depth and volume with time in the glass, as flowery undergrowth gives way to currants and hints of mocha. Its textures and silky and seamless in feel, as a wave of tart berries washes across the palate, accentuated by hints of sour citrus, and leaving salty minerals and a saturation of fine tannins in its wake. Both persistent and youthfully structured, the Terzotratto still has a lot to say, yet it isn't ready to reveal it all, as inner rose tones and hints of salted licorice slowly fade. Yet through it all, this leaves the mouth watering for more. I can't wait to see this wine in another five years. Well done. Drinking window 2025-2032."
