Located in the southern part of Cornas, Domaine Dumien-Serrette is the quintessential old-school family-run Rhône Domaine. The wines tend to showcase the classic granitic backbone for which this appellation is known, along with cassis and sauvage mid-palate flavours, so typical of fine Cornas. The 2017 has all the expected earthy elements expect but also a deliciously pure core of richly concentrated fruit. Full-bodied on the palate without feeling sweet or overly chunky.
"This microproducer draws fruit from 80-year-old vines in the lieu-dit of Patou. The 2017 Cornas Patou is full-bodied and intense, with an attractive dusty texture of chalk dust, charcoal and crushed stone. Red currant and cassis aromas and flavors complement those stony elements, picking up a bit of cracked pepper on the finish." 91-93 pts, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate
