"2018 is often characterized by lighter wines, but the Conternos nonetheless managed to produce a wine with impressive depth and character for their top bottling. Always the darkest and most concentrated wine in the range, even in 2018, the Ginestra displays gorgeous aromas of currant and black cherry along with rose petals and hints of tar, leather, coffee and sage. Broad and focused with youthful fruit and enveloping, firm tannins that will need some time to properly resolve. A classic Barolo that will reward patience."

"Monforte d'Alba. Mid ruby with orange tinges. An enticing nose of raspberry, blood orange and iron. Taut lively red-fruit and sweet raspberry palate lined with bags chewy tannins. Gorgeous length but very tannic. (WS)"

"For Ginestra, this is held back an additional year of time in bottle, so the 2018 is the current release. The 2018 Barolo Ginestra takes on even more elegance as well as concentration in its notes of incense, rose petal, and raspberry liqueur. Fine on the palate, with an elegant balance of pure apricot, Asian spice, and wild strawberry, it is inviting and ready to drink now or over the next 20 years."
