Appellation: Macon Villages
From the first hillside of the Saône Valley situated on the communes of Chardonnay, Montbellet and Viré-Clessé. Weathered fine loam on limestone. The subsoil is Middle Jurassic Bathonian limestone. The soil is 50 cm to one metre deep. The colluvial deposits of clay loam covering a layer of very calcareous and siliceous weathered loam give the wine its minerality. Harvested by hand, and matured on the lees for 12 months. A must have for lovers of natural Chardonnay, it shows a bright pale gold colour, with aromas of citrus, white peach, pear, almond and a honeyed note. Incredibly concentrated, the palate has layers of white fruit, stone and almond flavors, citrus and minerals on the long finish. A young wine, this will benefit from aeration and also age gracefully for up to a decade.
