Grape: 100% Cartoixà (local name for Xarel·lo)
Vineyard: Old vineyards of Cartoixà located in the Nou de Gaià, municipality of Tarragona, about 4 km in a straight line to the Mediterranean Sea. The sea breeze, called Marinada, which in the summer months begins to blow around ten in the morning, avoids overripening of the grapes in this warm area. The soils are generally low-fertility sandy loam.
Once harvested, the grapes are pressed in stainless steel tanks. After leaving the juice for 24 hours, the next day the juice is separated from the solid particles and fermented in stainless steel for 18 to 20 days at a temperature between 14 and 15ºC.
The 2019 vintage was aged on the lees for 9 months, stirred once a week for smoothness and body. The wine is bottled with a small percentage of lees to improve the evolution of the wine over time, so it is advisable to decant the wine before pouring. This is a lovely everyday wine with varietal aromas of peach, ripe apple, pineapple, lychee, and papaya. The mouthfeel is structured and fresh.
