Appellation: Côtes du Roussillon
'Henri' is a tribute to the winemaker’s grandfather who would have turned 100 years old in 2013, the first vintage of this cuvée. An inky ruby Syrah; smoky and spicy, with deep blackcurrant and cherry flavours. Power and finesse are effortlessly combined in this wine, leading to an impressive and energetic finish.
On the 2020 vintage:
"Opaque ruby. Suggestions of licorice, vanilla and smoky minerals complement powerful cassis, cherry-cola, cured meat and floral aromas. Plush and deeply concentrated yet surprisingly lively as well, offering intense, spice-laced cherry and dark berry preserve and fruitcake flavors that are supported by a spine of juicy acidity. Steadily building tannins frame the smoke- and mineral-tinged finish, which lingers with superb tenacity and resonating spiciness. These vines, in the high-altitude Patou lieu-dit, were planted in 1913; all whole clusters and only about 600 bottles per vintage. Drinking window: 2027-2038."
