Picked from a 0.2ha plot, this wine is extremely limited in availability. 2019 is the first vintage Dave released this wine. Complex and rich, representing the soils of Asili, Rabaja and Rio Sordo, this wine is closer to a Barolo in character. Dave considers the Faset to be in the middle of his other Barbarescos Starderi and Roncaglie, combining elegance and power to make his most traditional in style Barbaresco single vineyard wine. Fermented with natural yeasts and hand plunged once every two days. The wine stays on the skins until dry, before being pressed into 300L 10 year old French oak barriques for two years of ageing.
On the 2021 vintage:
"The 2021 Barbaresco Faset is a wine of total finesse. Crushed flowers, sweet red-toned fruit, leather, rose petals and spice all grace this attractive, understated Barbaresco from Dave Fletcher. Suave, silky tannins extend the effortless finish. The 2021 is not an obvious or overt wine, but it sure is gorgeous."
