The 2019 vintage is the first official release of this wine with only 1,500 bottles made. It was aged for one year in cement and another year in used, old barriques. Cuttings from three old Merlot plots from 1965 (Elio's birth year) form the source for this wine, now planted in the lowest part of his precious Perno vineyard where red clay is dominant. This makes that part very suitable for a grape variety like Merlot and is why they called the wine Enodatio (the explanation or "solution" for this unique plot). Gives this wine some air to open up and fully show it spiciness and savoury character.
